1. Summary — what runs locally and what does not
University PDF is built in two layers, and we want you to know the difference before you use anything:
- 100% local, nothing is sent anywhere: the GPA Calculator, the University Cost Calculator, Text to PDF, the file reader that extracts the text of an uploaded document, and every PDF generated on your device. These tools have no server component — your grades, numbers, text and files never leave your browser.
- Contact external services, only with the text you submit: the two AI-assisted features (Research Draft Builder and the explanation part of the Study PDF Analyzer) and the optional source search. When you choose to use them, the topic text or extracted question text and your chosen language are sent to an external AI provider, and topic keywords are sent to public academic APIs. No file, no name, no student ID and no other personal data is sent, and nothing you submit is stored by us.
We operate no user accounts and no databases of user content, and we do not use analytics that identify you personally.
2. Your files and data
- Your text, grades and numbers are processed locally by the calculators and by Text to PDF — they are never uploaded to us.
- Generated PDF files are created in your browser. We never receive, store or see them.
- Uploaded documents are read inside your own browser; only the extracted question text described in section 3.2 is ever transmitted, and only when you run the AI step.
- Preferences (language, theme, custom grade scales) are saved in your browser's local storage only.
3. When data leaves your browser
Nothing is sent automatically. The requests below happen only because you pressed a button that requires them.
3.1 Source search (optional)
The Research Draft Builder (and the optional references feature in Text to PDF) searches public academic sources to bring you real, verifiable material. When you use it, your browser sends the topic keywords only to:
- Wikipedia (wikipedia.org) — for general context and summaries;
- OpenAlex (api.openalex.org) — for academic paper metadata;
- Crossref (api.crossref.org) — for academic paper metadata.
These services receive only the search keywords (for example, "artificial intelligence in cybersecurity") — never your personal data, your full text or your files. Their own privacy policies apply to their handling of requests.
3.2 AI drafting and study-file explanation
When you ask the Research Draft Builder to draft research about a topic, the topic text and the chosen language are sent to Google's Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) — and, if extra capacity is configured, to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) — which writes the draft and returns it to your browser. The same applies to the explanation step of the Study PDF Analyzer: your file itself is never uploaded. Its text is extracted inside your own browser, and only that question text plus the chosen language is sent to the model so it can be explained. We never send your name, your student ID, the file or any personal data, the generated text is included in the PDF created on your device, and it is not stored by us.
Because these requests go to established AI providers, their privacy policies govern that transmission. If you do not want any text to leave your device, simply do not use the two AI features — the calculators, Text to PDF and the file reader keep working fully offline.
4. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
This site may display advertising through Google AdSense. To show and measure ads, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies:
- Google AdSense cookies — Google may set cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, to cap how often you see the same ad, and to measure ad performance. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit.
- Our own storage — we store only your language and theme preference in your browser's local storage. We set no tracking cookies of our own and run no third-party analytics.
Your advertising choices. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through Google Ads Settings, manage cookies set by Google at Google privacy controls, and opt out of third-party cookies from many vendors via AboutAds.info or Network Advertising Initiative. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking non-essential cookies does not stop the tools from working.
EU and UK visitors (GDPR / Google EU User Consent Policy). Where the law requires consent before non-essential cookies are used, personalized advertising is limited until consent is given: visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown non-personalized ads unless and until they consent through Google's consent controls. You may give, refuse or withdraw that consent at any time using the Google links above or by clearing your cookies — withdrawing consent takes effect immediately for subsequent requests.
5. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA (or another region with similar law), you have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of any personal data we hold, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we deliberately store no personal data beyond your own browser preferences, there is usually nothing for us to delete — but if you believe otherwise, write to us at twk569008@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.
6. Hosting
This site is served as static files by Netlify. Netlify may process standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) as part of delivering the site, as described in Netlify's own privacy policy.
7. Children and students
The tools are intended for university students. No age data is collected because no personal data is collected at all.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
